International Worker's Day Holiday Close
2025-04-30International Worker's Day which also called May Day, originated from the Chicago workers' strike in 1886, fighting for an eight-hour workday. In 1889, the Second International designated it as a global workers' holiday to commemorate the achievements of the workers' movement. China began celebrating it in 1920 and designated it as a legal holiday in 1949 to commend model workers and promote the spirit of "glory of labor." The modern May Day holiday has been adjusted to 5 days, taking into account both tradition and people's livelihood needs, and reflecting respect for workers.
